Andrew Regenstreich
Andrew is currently enrolled in NYU Wagner’s Public and Non-profit MPA program with an International focus. Andrew has worked in a wide variety of fields including finance, local government, the United States Senate, and the U.S. Embassy in London. He earned his BS from the Northeastern University where he studied political science and psychology. Heavily influenced by research trips to Niger and Geneva, Andrew’s first job after graduation was managing a microfinance program in a refugee camp in Zambia. This served to confirm his belief that the best way to alleviate poverty was through public private partnerships and cultural exchange programs.
After leaving Zambia he traveled to a few other African countries and became increasingly passionate about pursuing a career that would allow him to make a difference in people’s lives. His first step in that regard was to formulate a business proposal and start a non-profit he hopes to continue to grow called the One Line Project. The goal would be to convert abandoned properties into multi-functional community centers. During his first year of graduate school Andrew worked as a consultant with the Mayor’s Service in Schools Initiative, a program of New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg. In this position he consulted with New York City Public Schools on ways to implement public service projects.
At present Andrew is consulting with a Jordanian Non-Profit to improve their volunteer management system, sitting on the board of an international non-profit called the Alexia Foundation, and interning with the Community Development division of the Jersey City Department of Housing, Economic Development and Commerce, where he is working with developers to elevate the foreclosure problem facing Jersey City. Additionally, Andrew sits on the board of Bridge, a student organization dedicated to promoting entrepreneurship. In this capacity, he helped found the Inaugural Social Enterprise Boot Camp, a two day conference that brought leaders from the social enterprise field to conduct workshops for students and young professionals who wished to make a difference in their communities. Travel is a constant in his life and to date he has been to almost thirty countries.
