Kavya Shankar
Kavya Shankar is a student at Harvard University studying Economics and Psychology. She believes that education is the great equalizer and thus all individuals deserve to have a lifetime of strong academic experiences. Kavya strives to supplement classic classroom knowledge, improve school practices, and encourage intellectual curiosity through student advocacy, college admissions preparation, and mentorship.
She began by co-founding Project Yes We Can, a California statewide organization dedicated to connecting students and politicians through education think tanks. She went on to serve as the student representative for her high school during the WASC accreditation process and researched education public policy issues as the Educational Policy Coordinator with Silicon Valley Leadership Group.
Most recently, she founded Bravura Prep (www.bravuraprep.com), an educational
consulting firm specializing in college admissions preparation, and Compass Point Mentorship, a personalized mentorship program that connects high school graduates with students from their alma mater. She continues to work with Harvard Undergraduate Admissions Council, spreading the word about the benefits of higher education. These organizations work at the grassroots level, giving students the guidance they need to maximize their potentials. She aims to continue to make an impact in education, one student at a time.
