Republican Allen West Gets People Talking, But Is It Dialogue?

Republican Allen West Gets People Talking, But Is It Dialogue?

In a widely talked about Florida Town Hall meeting this week, Republican Congressional Representative Allen West asserted that between 78 and 81 Congressional Democrats were members of the Communist Party.

To be sure, this is not the first time West has made controversial statements, The Daily Beast lists 13 of them here, and we have to wonder, what does it say about the potential for civil dialogue, when people like this can get elected to public office, and are seemingly not held accountable for their words by party leadership?
