Gus Ipsen – TCG Intern
Gus Ipsen was born in London, England and moved to Pelham Manor, New York at the age of 5. Pelham, where he still resides, is a small suburb of Westchester County just outside the city. At Pelham Memorial High School, Gus was a cellist in the school orchestra, a member of the Varsity Basketball team and a co-captain of the Varsity Golf team; he also served as the News Editor for the school paper, The Pel Mel. Gus was a kindergarten teacher at his church’s Sunday School for two years, and spent countless hours serving meals to the homeless at a soup kitchen his church was affiliated with. In his four summers prior to working at The Common Good, Gus was a full time caddie at his towns country club where he learned a toleration for men whose ego’s couldn’t fit inside an average airplane hangar, and that there is no pricetag on the ability to make a five foot putt.
Gus will be a Junior at Lehigh University this Fall where he plans on majoring in International Relations with a minor in English. Gus is a member of the Lehigh University Philharmonic Orchestra and is actively involved with his fraternity, as well as the schools tutoring program for local high school students. Over the years he has extensively travelled the United States with his parents visiting, among others, such National Parks as The Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Zion, Lassen, Bryce Canyon, and even Mount Denali in Alaska. Gus’s ideal future would give him the opportunity to continute experiencing the nations amazing natural beauty while also allowing him to utilize his passion for politics and international affairs in a productive manner.
